According to O’Keeffe (Herity 2002, 62 (180)), jointly compiling the OSL in 1837, ‘This castle is remembered by the inhabitants to have existed in Gaganstown T.L. {in a place called Cúl A Teampuill} situated near the site of the old church of Gaganstown [KD029-013----]. None of the castle now remains.’ The precise location of this castle is unknown.
