In wooded, landscaped, former demesne grounds on the E bank of the S-flowing River Barrow. A large number of burials were uncovered during landscaping immediately E of Moore Abbey house in both the mid and late-19th century (The Countess of Drogheda (1902-3, 230). They were probably associated with the Cistercian abbey (KD026-001----), upon the site of which the house is believed to be built. In 1996, further burials were uncovered to the N of the house (Mullins, Clare.
