According to Bradley et al (1986 vol. 2, 178), Maurice Eustace is credited with building a large house S of Harristown castle (KD024-028003-) in the second quarter of the 17th century, which was subsequently destroyed by Cromwellians under Hewson (Tickell 1946-63, 310, 316, 319). No visible surface trace survives. Extensive formal gardens (KD029-038002-) were probably associated with this house which was apparently rebuilt in 1662 on a new site c. 1 mile to the SW.
