In 1967, a human skull was found during the digging of a foundation to refurbish a well-known Curragh monument - the Priest's Grave - traditionally regarded as the burial place of a priest killed on the Curragh in 1798 during a massacre of insurgents by Crown Forces under General Duff. The skull was examined in the NMI and subsequently reburied on site. (Cahill and Sikora 2011, Vol 2, 482-3)
