In trees at the W edge of a short N-S ridge with a steep slope immediately to the W, and overlooking the River Liffey some 400m to the SW. A low, grass covered, circular mound (diam. 10m; H. 1.4m) was archaeologically excavated in advance of the proposed construction of the Kilcullen Link Motorway Scheme (Keeley 1991, 170-1). The stratigraphy consisted of layers of sod, sand and clay, with old ground surface visible as a band of greyish decayed sod and humic soil. Seven sherds of ceramic were recovered from a depression on the old ground surface: a well-fired red ware with traces of a green mottled glaze on the outer surface, medieval in date. A very similar looking mound (KD023-033----) lies c. 140m to the SE
