A large collection of cross slabs, grave slabs, decorated stones and three effigies (See KD022-029023- and KD022-029027- to KD022-029057-), dating from the 10th to the 17th centuries have been placed in St. Brigid’s Cathedral (KD022-029005-).
KD022-029055-: On the N side of the chancel. According to Bradley et al. (1986 vol. 3, 239-40), a rectangular limestone slab (L 1.94m; Wth 0.98m) has an inscription in Roman lettering: ‘HERE LYES THE BODY OF ROBERT/ LEIGH COLCLOUGH ESQ SECOND/SON OF IOHN LEIGH OF RATHBRIDE/ IN THE COVNTY OF KILDARE ESQ/ HE WAS MARRIED TO MARGARET/ DAUGHTER AND HEIRESS OF SR CAESAR/ COLCLOUGH OF TINTERN BARONETT/ IN THE COVNTY OF WAXFORD/ HE DEPARTED THIS LIFE THE 27 DAY OF MAY 1695’.
