What is recorded here

Acording to Bradley et al. (1986 Vol. 3, 211-12), Rocque's map of Kildare town (1757) shows a mound to the SW of the Anglo Norman masonry castle (KD022-029004-). This may have been a motte which was subsequently incorporated into the defences of the later castle. No visible surface traces survive. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 30 January 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
