Although not recorded on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps, the monument is depicted on two earlier maps: it is shown as a church named 'Tamplenasonagh' on Noble and Keenan's 1752 Map of County Kildare, and named 'Temple Summogh' on Taylor's 1783 map of the county. On low-lying callows, c. 60m S of the SW-flowing Slate River, and skirted along the N by a curving mill race. A low, tree-covered, oval, earthen mound (ext. diams. 41.5m E-W; 28.5m N-S; H 1.1-2m) is retained at the base by a low, mortared wall (H 0.6m) of roughly coursed limestone flags and blocks, which survives best at E, SW and W, and by a shallow, outer ditch (Wth 1.9m; D 0.3m) E-NW. The level upper surface (diams. 19m E-W; 7m N-S) is tree-clad and there is no visible surface trace of the church.
