What is recorded here

According to a local tradition, quoted by Jackson (1979-80, 157), there was a well in this townland which was believed to be on the site of a monastery. A possible early ecclesiastical enclosure (KD017-009004-), a possible medieval field system (KD017-009002-) and a possible medieval church site (KD017-009001-) have been identified in Feighcullen, but the holy well has not been located. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
