What is recorded here

Recorded in the OSL (Herity 2002, 26 (75)) as '… an old Castle … which is, according to the Namebook, "A square building about sixty feet in height"'. At the top of a long and very gentle S-facing pasture slope. A slightly raised, rectangular area (dims. L 16.8m E-W; Wth 10m; H 0.5m) of grassed-over, collapsed stone carries a small segment of 'in situ' mortared wall core (dims. L 1.8m E-W; T 1m; H 1.5m) from which the inner and outer facing stones have been robbed, and, 3m to the W, two similar but collapsed portions of wall core, one of which has inner and outer facing stones intact (wall T 1.2m).
