Church (in Ruins) — Killybegs Demesne

In a graveyard (KD013-019003-) at the centre of a possible early ecclesiastical enclosure (KD013-019005-) and the site of a religious house of the Knight's Hospitallers (KD013-019001-). A poorly preserved rectangular structure (int. dims. L 19.5m E-W; Wth 5.5m; wall T 1m) is built of rubble limestone masonry. Only the W gable wall and the E third of the building is upstanding, and each end is buttressed from the N and S. The inner face of the W gable wall contains two rectangular wall cupboards and two small putlock holes near the apex, which carries a double bellcote. The E gable is pierced by a twin-light ogee-headed window with a wide rear splay and possible traces of a rear arch. On its outer face are two small rectangular lintelled recesses, (one near the apex and the second below and to its S) of uncertain function. The sidewalls are featureless apart from slight base-batter on the N wall. The interior contains burials. According to Comerford (1866, 78), a 15th century baptismal font (KD013-014----) was taken from here and is now at the church in Prosperous village.
