What is recorded here

Fitzgerald (1896-99, 396) records: '1463. In this year it was enacted by Parliament that the Church of St. Columb, … should be annexed to the Monastery of the Blessed Virgin (KD011-034----) near Leixlip. … On the townland called Newtown … there is a holy well (KD001-003----) dedicated to St. Columbkill; the church of St. Columb may formerly have stood in it's vicinity'. Neither church nor monastery have been located. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
