Recorded by the OSL (Herity 2002, 31) as '…frequented always on Trinity Sunday' (the eight Sunday after Easter), and still, according to Jackson (1979-80, 145-6), the site of a Pattern on that day, during which pilgrims drink the water which is considered to be lucky. According to Fitzgerald (1917, 369), the well is the source of the River Boyne. On level pasture c. 30m W of a small S-flowing stream. This spring well (D 0.6m) is enclosed by a small rectangular structure (dims. L 2m N-S; Wth 1.8m) built of mortared stone with a vaulted roof (int. H 1.8m), entered through an arched doorway (Wth 0.8m; H 1.2m) with redbrick jambs. The roof is unstable and the surrounding area is heavily poached by livestock.
