What is recorded here

On the gentle W-facing slope of a low, pasture spur which projects W into the Bog of Allen, with a possible habitation site (KD004-010----) c. 250m to the NE. A poorly preserved circular area (int. diam. 22.5m) is defined by a very faint inner, earthen bank (Wth c. 1m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.8m at NE-1.7m at SW), by a shallow fosse (Wth 2.3m at E-5.8m at S; D 0.2-0.4m) and by a second, faint, outer earthen bank (Wth 1m; int H 0.4m; ext H 0.2m) at E. Although not recorded on the 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map it is probably a rath. Visible as being overgrown on a recent aerial photograph (OSi Orthophoto 2005).
