Located at the NW-foot of a long, gentle, pasture slope, with a medieval church (KD003-011001-) and graveyard (KD003-011002-) c. 200m to the NW. According to Fitzgerald (1903-05, 319-20) it was 'a former Bermingham stronghold'. A low, rectangular, grass-covered platform (dims. L c. 30m NW-SE: Wth c. 18m; H 0.4-0.6m) defined by a scarp, carries two parallel, lower portions of castle walling and two sections of associated but collapsed mortared masonry. A SW wall (L 12m; Wth 1.5-1.7m; H2.6m) has most facing stones robbed-out, but two opes survive; a doorway (Wth 1.6m) and window embrasure (Wth 1.1-1.6m). Parallel to it (7m to NE) is a foundation-course of outer wall facing stones (L 3m), immediately to the S of which is a large pile of collapsed mortared masonry (dims. L 10m; Wth 5m), with a second, smaller area of displaced masonry (dims. L 3.5m ;Wth 2m) c. 10m to the NE. The monument was probably a tower house.
