In 2004, archaeological excavation (Licence no. 04E1181) of a burrow-pit associated with the construction of the M4 Kinnegad-Kilcock motorway uncovered a spread associated with metalworking, the truncated remains of a bowl furnace and portion of a possible smithing hearth. (Clarke 2007, 202 (No. 845))
