What is recorded here

Associated with a dwelling (GA119-095001-). Described by Kinahan (1869d, 27) as 'on the north' of the latter, it consisted of 'a kitchen midden, 12 yards [11m] long, by 9 yards [8.25m] wide, and 3 feet [0.9m] high; in this the brass pin GA035-001---- was found'. Unfortunately, no illustration of the pin is included and no visible surface trace of the midden survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 5 August 2010
