What is recorded here

In a level area of small fields at S end of Inis Meáin. Poorly preserved circular cashel (D 20m) known locally as Clochar (Robinson 1980). Defined by a drystone wall from NNE to SW and by a modern field wall from SW to NNE. Two large piles of rubble within the interior may be the remnants of huts. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
