Near the sea-cliffs on W side of Inis Meáin. Known widely as Synge's Chair, the remains consist of two very ruined clochans: (a), to N, is an area of collapsed rubble (L 7m, Wth 3.2m) with a circular chamber at N end (D 1.4m) and rectangular chamber at S (L 1.8m, Wth 1.1m). To S a wall facing suggests former presence of a now destroyed third chamber; (b) is a second clochan standing c. 12m SSW of (a). Two chambers are visible: a circular chamber at N (D E-W 3.2m) and to S a subrectangular chamber (L 2.1m, Wth 1.5m) with narrow walls which may never have supported a roof. (Robinson 1980)
