At the SE end of Árainn/Inishmore in an area of shifting sands. This large irregularly shaped graveyard (120m NNW-SSE; 115m WNW-ESE) is enclosed by a stone wall. Access is at SW. The church (GA120-020001-), known locally as Teaghlach Éinne, is located in its N sector. Most of the gravestones date to the 19th and 20th centuries and a number of upright limestone flagstones are also visible. According to Westropp (1895, 264), the graveyard contains the graves of 120 saints, including that of St Enda (see GA119-020002-). These burials were located in the area to the NE of the church but were all buried in sand (O’Flanagan 1927, Vol. 3, 351). No visible surface trace of them survives. However, during the course of excavations at the church in 1984 a setting of slabs, possibly marking a grave, was uncovered on the N side of the church. This feature may be one of the graves on the edge of the ancient graveyard (Manning 1985, 111).
