What is recorded here

On an E-facing rocky slope in pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 267, no. 24) as a circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 27m), which was cut by a laneway. The latter runs through the cashel from NNE to SSW and no visible surface trace of the enclosing element survives to the E of it. To its W, the overgrown cashel wall is evident but field-clearance rubble has been piled on top of it. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 24 January 2017
