What is recorded here

Wakeman (1891, 352, Fig. 9, Plate I) recorded a cross ‘on a stone at Mainistir, on Aran Mór’, noting that it was associated with the church (GA111-002001-). The cross was a single-line roughly equal–armed cross with T-shaped terminals. The outline of the stone was not included and the dimensions of the cross are not known. It has not been located. (Higgins 1987, vol. II, 293, no. 24) Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 8 April 2016

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
