Part of Baile na mBocht (GA110-162----); on a slight W-facing downslope. A penannular cairn (L 14.2m, Wth 11.2m ext.) with a gap at W. Prior to its excavation by Goulden in 1955 (Waddell 1988, 40-2), it appeared as an oval cairn (L 14.8m, Wth 13.4m) with mounds of stone at N and S. Excavation revealed a flagged floor with quantities of shell and bone, but the site was too disturbed to recover original plan. (Kinahan 1869d, 27, no. 18; Robinson 1980) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
