What is recorded here

On bare limestone outcrop 130m W of Dún Eoghanachta (GA110-020----). It consists of two subcircular and conjoined drystone structures. The S one (N-S 9.25m, E-W 8.9m) is slightly more substantial than the N one (E-W 5.8m, N-S 3.8m) which may have been an annexe: it has an entrance gap at SE. However, the enclosing walls of both are of a similar character to local field walls, suggesting that it may be a relatively recent house and/or animal pen. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
