This hearth was uncovered during the course of excavations in Cutting 1 in the inner enclosure of Dún Aonghasa (GA110-039----). The surviving remains consisted of a shattered base slab and two low side stones (0.47m by 0.45m). No hearth residues were evident. It is possible that the hearth was associated with Structure 10 (GA110-039024-), as the suggested ground plan of the latter feature would have incorporated it in its E sector (Cotter 2012, vol. 1, 350, Fig. 7.127, 355).
