What is recorded here

On a rise in an otherwise low-lying marshy area. On inspection, this holy well (diam. 2m; D 2m), dedicated to St Bridget, was almost completely dried up. It was enclosed by a much-collapsed circular drystone-built wall and a mature ash tree was growing beside it at S. A stone-lined channel (L 3m) ran SSW from it into a small pool, which in turn fed an E-W flowing stream. No votive offerings were visible but according to local information, the well was formerly used for ‘cures’. A burial ground (GA107-189----) lies c. 120m to the NW.
