Within the NE sector of an early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA107-001003-). According to Gwynn and Hadcock (1970, 156) 'Monaster O Gormogan or de Via Nova' was founded by an O Gormogan for the Augustinian canons, probably before 1170. What survives is a very ruinous medieval church (WNW-ESE; L >31.7m; Wth 6.65m). A later transept (L 7.9m; Wth 6.65m) extends off the NNE side-wall. Of the main body of the church only fragmentary portions of the ESE gable, SSW and NNE side-walls survive. There is a fine double piscina near the SE corner of the SSW wall. A pointed arch doorway in the NNE wall gives access to the transept, to the WNW of which is a blocked aperture, possibly a window. There are robbed windows in the NNE gable and ESE side-walls of the transept. The gable also contains a circular-headed aumbry decorated with a twisted rope moulding, as well as a fine wall-monument of the Hannon/O'Madden family dated 1637 (GA107-002007-). Three medieval graveslabs (GA107-002004 -; GA107-002005-; GA107-002006-) lie in the NE corner and there are numerous cut-stone fragments scattered throughout the surrounding graveyard (GA107-002002-).
