What is recorded here

On a low hill in undulating pastureland and close to a turlough to the NW. This circular rath (diam. c. 35m), in fair condition, is defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is very low from N to E to WSW and barely visible from WSW to N. The fosse is clearly visible all round. The outer bank is low and a number of gaps are evident in its W half. A causewayed gap (Wth 5m) at NE may be original. The interior is raised above the external ground level. An L-shaped depression in its NW quadrant may mark the site of a possible souterrain (GA106-156001-). Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 24 April 2018
