What is recorded here

In undulating grassland. This moated site (43m N-S; 43m E-W), square in plan, is defined by two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The banks are overgrown with trees. The inner bank (Wth at top 1.5m; int. H 0.97m; ext. H 1.1m) is visible all round and the fosse (Wth 1.9m) survives apart from E to SE. The outer bank (int. H 0.9m) is present from SE through S to NW and from NE to E. Gaps occur at E and W; the latter may be modern. A N-S running field wall cuts across the monument at NNW and SSW. A rath (GA097-0122----) lies c. 145m to the NW. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 3 December 2019
