What is recorded here

In meadowland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as an irregular field (c. 32m E-W; c. 27m N-S) with a roadway running around it from W to NE. On the 1929 revision it is shown as a field boundary curving from SSE through W to NNE and open on the E side. According to local information, there was a 'small fort' here. No visible surface traces survives. The interior is now occupied by a silage pit. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 22 July 2019
