What is recorded here

On a N-facing slope in rolling pastureland. Well-preserved circular rath (diam. 44.8m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is visible all round, except at NNW. A gap (Wth 2.1m) at NNE flanked by a large boulder on its S side may mark the original entrance. The fosse and outer bank, which is overlain by a field wall, only survive from SW to W. There is a souterrain (GA104-059001-) in the NE quadrant of the interior. (McCaffrey 1952, 217, no. 147) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 6 January 2017
