On the E side of the R458 about half a kilometre SSE of Kilcolgan. Named ‘M.S.’ on the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map, this milestone (H 0.7m; Wth 0.31m at front, 0.36m at rear; D 0.36m) consists of a well-dressed trapezoidal-shaped limestone pillar with even faces and a slight chamfer to the front margins. Spalling has occurred around the mid-right margin and around the top to the front and right. The OS bird’s foot benchmark is visible on the top. The inscription reads: ‘9 From Galway’ (O’Sullivan 2021, No. 9). The milestone is one of nine in the study area, see also GA122-098----, GA122-147----, GA122-148----, GA113-189----, GA113-217----, GA113-218----, GA103-217---- and GA103-218----).
