What is recorded here

On a ridge in undulating pastureland. Subcircular rath (22m NW-SE; 18.5m NNE-SSW), in fair condition, defined by two banks of earth and stone and an intervening fosse. The inner bank and fosse survive throughout, although a modern hut has been built up against the outer face of the this bank at ENE. The outer bank is visible from NNE to NE and from E to SSE. From SSE to NNW a line of limestone rubble indicates its line. It is overlain by a field boundary from NNW to NNE. A causewayed entrance gap (Wth 2.5m) at SSW may be original. The rath is heavily overgrown with elder, ash and hawthorn. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 13 April 2018
