What is recorded here

In rocky pastureland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 165, no. 55) as a circular 'Earthen fort' (diam. c. 29m) defined by a bank, which was in a 'flattened condition, 12' wide [c. 3.6m] and 1' [c. 0.3] to 2' [c. 0.2m] high'. No visible surface trace of it survives but a curving field boundary may mirror its outline. There is a souterrain (GA096-163001-) in the centre of the interior. (Redington 1916a, 55) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 7 September 2018
