On W bank of River Corrib opposite Terryland Castle (GA082-080001-) close to the site of a possible fording point (GA082-090----). In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of Martin Lynch (Nolan 1901, 115). Described in the Down Survey of 1655-6 as 'a small castle and a thatch cabin within a baune or stone-wall'. Evidently still extant in late 18th C, but a brewery was built on the site shortly afterwards. Fragments of a stout wall and an ivy-clad circular angle-tower or dovecote (D 3.25m, H c. 4m: GA094-040----) in the grounds of UCG may be the last vestiges of the bawn (Walsh 1990b).
