What is recorded here

In grassland. Holt (1912, 228) recorded that immediately to the E of the rath (GA094-013----) 'beyond a field wall, are the foundations of a small hut [GA094-013002-] and yard, below which, as revealed by two apertures is a 'souterrain' (GA094-013001-). McCaffrey (1952, 122, no. 39) could not find the 'hut' or 'souterrain', and local people informed him that the latter had been closed up. Not located. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
