What is recorded here

Within E half of Pollboy church (GA088-020001-). In discussing the church, Egan (1960, 26) notes that it is 'not enclosed [by a graveyard] and only unbaptised children are buried there'. The visible remains comprise very poorly preserved irregular lines of limestone blocks indicating graves oriented E-W. There is an inscribed slab, dedicated to an infant and bearing the date 1828, under S window of the church. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
