What is recorded here

On a prominent hillock in grassland. Very poorly preserved subcircular ringfort (NNW-SSE 26.3m, ENE-WSW 23.8m) defined by a bank of earth and stone from ENE to SE and from NNW to N; elsewhere a quarried-out scarp forms the enclosing element. Traces of a souterrain (GA086-231001-) and a possible internal division lie within the interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
