What is recorded here

On a prominent hillock in grassland. Oval ringfort (NNW-SSE 51m, WSW-ENE 34.2m) defined by a bank of earth and stone which survives from SSE through W to N; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. Possible entrance at NNE. In NW sector of the interior, a linear bank (L 13.4m), running ENE-WSW, is probably an internal division. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
