What is recorded here

According to a member of the Redemptorist Order, a group of Dominican monks sought refuge in an area around Lough Nambraher around 1650. There they built a number of wooden buildings as well as a concealed causeway across the lake. No visible surface traces survive and the precise location is unknown. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
