What is recorded here

In undulating grassland. A poorly preserved subrectangular enclosure (NW-SE 160m, NE-SW 120m) defined by a bank of earth and stone and an external fosse. The bank is overlain by a field wall from SE through W to N. The flat-bottomed fosse, which survives from S through W to N, is best preserved at N. In N half of the interior are a series of banks of similar size and form as the enclosing bank; possibly internal divisions. There is a souterrain (GA083-028001-) in SW quadrant. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
