On E bank of River Corrib opposite Newcastle (GA094-040----) close to a probable fording point (GA082-090----). There was a castle here in 1574, at which time it was in the possession of 'Domynick Lynch' (Nolan 1901, 115). No visible surface trace of the latter survives, however. The present fragmentary ruins, probably on the same site, are those of a 17th-C gabled house (GA080-080002-). (O'Flanagan 1927a, Vol. 1, 166-7)
