What is recorded here

At An Baile Láir under a small E-facing scarp. Known locally as Tobar Ann, it consists of a small natural spring with a recent concrete surround and a cross. It is associated with a story of a woman who was told she would find forgiveness for her sins in the spot where her candle didn't blow out. After visiting all the holy places of Ireland, her candle remained alight here throughout a terrible storm of wind (info. T. Robinson). Not visited. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
