What is recorded here

Close to seashore near S end of the island. A large midden exposed over an area of 600sq. m is composed of mixed shells with periwinkle, oyster and limpet predominating. Some burnt stone is also in evidence. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'.
