What is recorded here

On a hummock in slightly undulating pastureland. Poorly preserved circular enclosure (D 43m) defined by a scarp (H 1.5m max.). Traces of a possible external fosse are visible at SE. Gaps occur at SE and SW. The interior rises towards the centre; an oval hollow at N is possibly the result of quarrying. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
