What is recorded here

In flat pastureland within a moated site (GA074-027002-). In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of 'Shane ne Moy' (Nolan 1901b, 110). The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 534) note that 'the foundations only are now to be seen'. Apart from a series of banks, mounds and depressions, no visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Date of upload: 05 August 2010 The monument was taken into Ownership under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 - National Monument 563.
