What is recorded here

On a W-facing slope in undulating farmland. A well-preserved circular barrow (D 15.3m) consisting of a flat-topped mound (D 6.6m, H 0.7m), with a slight depression at centre, which is encircled by a fosse and bank. A gap in the bank at E could be original. An old field wall, running E-W, cuts the monument at SSE and SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
