What is recorded here

On a slight rise in undulating farmland, on S boundary of td., immediately to N of road. A D-shaped raised area (E-W 27m, N-S 16m, H 1m) within E half of which numerous small limestone grave-markers are visible, aligned N-S. To NW of centre lies a pile of stones (H 1.5m), and to E a large inscribed stone slab dedicated to Mr Fitzsimmons who 'enclosed this small burial place.' No grave-markers are visible in W half of the monument. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
