What is recorded here

On a rise in gently rolling grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (D 33m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The outer bank survives only at N. A field wall overlies the enclosing elements at S. A gap (Wth 3m) at E could be original. A square banked enclosure to NE appears modern. A ringfort (GA073-029----) lies c. 150m to E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
