What is recorded here

In level grassland. Poorly preserved circular ringfort (D 39m) defined by four banks and three intervening fosses. The outermost fosse only survives at NW. A field wall, running E-W, cuts N section of the two outer banks; another field wall follows the line of the outermost bank from S to SW. A small mound extends from this bank at S. A trackway cuts the enclosing elements at SW. Gap (Wth 3.2m) at NW could be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
